COVID-19 Testing Consent

Year 7/13 COVID-19 Testing Appointments (1st March 2021)

Following the Prime Ministers announcement on Monday 22 February, you will be aware that the return of our students will be staggered FROM Monday 8 March 2021, to allow all students to have the opportunity to be tested before they return to the classroom.

After an initial programme of three tests conducted within the academy, students will then be provided with two rapid tests to use each week at home. I have attached a “How_to_do_your_test_COVID-19_instruction_leaflet”, so that students know what to expect when they arrive. Our staff will make the process as easy as possible for all students. Testing will take place in our temporary testing site of the Sports Hall, which will be accessed via the Sixth Form gate, to the left of Reception.
Parents/carers are kindly requested to use the allocated car park to the left of Reception, which will be available throughout the day.

A one-way system will be in place for students to walk to and from the Sports Hall testing site and will be clearly signposted. There is no need for parents/carers to accompany students to get their test unless students are feeling particularly anxious and in which case a member of staff will be on hand to offer support. Students do not need to wear uniform.

In order to comply with COVID-19 guidelines, please bear in mind the following:
• Parents/carers and students are asked to be mindful of social distancing guidance and keep 2 metres away from other parents/carers and students who may be arriving or departing from the academy.
• Parents/carers and students will not be able to visit any other room in the academy other than the test site of the Sports Hall.
• Parents/carers and students are to leave the academy straight after their test. The results take approximately 30 minutes and will be forwarded by the NHS to the mobile number and email address provided on the consent form below.

Appointments can be booked using the parents evening booking system, on your child’s allocated day, between 8:30am and 3:30pm. Please follow the link below or the link on the website to log on and choose your preferred test appointment time.

When you click the link, you will be asked to register your details and create a password if you have not already used the system. If you have previously used the system please just log in with your registered details. When providing your email address, please ensure this is the same as the one registered with your son/daughter at the academy. If you are unable to register or book an appointment via the online system please contact to make your bookings. Bookings will close at 12pm the day before your allocated test day.

Please note, if you have already booked an appointment on the previous date, please delete that appointment and re-book on the revised day (see above). Apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

For students in Years 7-11, we require parents/carers to complete a consent form for each child to enable them to receive a test. Parent/carer consent is not required for students in Year 12 and 13. Please read the documents attached to this email and complete the consent form using the Google link below. It is very important that you click on the link below and complete the form, as we are unable to test students without consent.

Students who currently attend the academy on a regular basis do not need to return a consent form if they have already done so.

We hope you will support us by ensuring your child attends for the test. This is very important. If you do not wish your child to receive a test, or have any other questions, please email:

Thank you as always for your patience and support. We are very much looking forward to having all our students back in our classrooms as soon as we can, as safely as possible.

Yours sincerely

Mr S Hall

Vice Principal
