The Artificial Turf Pitch (ATP) at The Pingle School has been funded jointly by the Football Foundation, South Derbyshire District Council and the school. The project was developed in partnership with local football clubs, the District Council and the Derbyshire FA after the site was identified in 2005 as a much needed facility in the South Derbyshire area. The facility began operating in September 2006 and it was officially opened by Sir Trevor Brooking, FA Director of Football Development on 7 November 2006.
The ATP is used by the school during the day up until 5:30pm and it has had a real impact on the provision for students for PE and games lessons.
Community use is between 5:30pm and 9:30pm Monday to Friday and 10:00am and 4:00pm at weekends.
At present the following clubs are using the facility:
Additionally the school will host 7 a side leagues, coaching development courses as well as referee training programmes during weekends and holiday periods as part of the overall Football Development Plan.
The floodlit pitch is a 3rd Generation Domo Varioslide surface conforming to both FA and FIFA standards and has a sand and rubber crumb infill to allow a true surface.
