  • Welcome to our Website

The Pingle Academy is the popular local choice for secondary and post 16 education.

Our academy is caring and inclusive, with a strong team of well qualified and committed staff.   We aim to remove barriers to learning and progress for all young people.  We are again oversubscribed for 2018-19, indicating community confidence and satisfaction with the quality of education we provide.

Students join us at 11 years of age from a range of primary schools and the majority remain with us until they have completed their A Levels.  We welcome applications from students moving into the area during the course of the academic year.  We have a comprehensive induction programme to enable new starters to settle in quickly.

We have the highest expectations of all students and the culture is one of high aspirations.  This is illustrated in the 2018 examination results, which were the academy’s best ever.  The percentage of students achieving 5 or more good passes (grade 4) in English and Mathematics have risen year on year to 61% and the percentage of students achieving 5 or more grade 5s including English and Mathematics  is 47% - well above the national average.

We have an exceptional Sixth Form and our students aspire to achieve at the highest level in order to gain a place.  We accept students from other local schools and academies, who are attracted by our wide range of courses, our caring environment and our students’ track record of success.  A Level results were again outstanding in 2018, with a value added score of 0.22.  Our students invariably go on to access the course, university or apprenticeship of their choice and we are very proud of their success.

Students joining us as High Prior Attainers become members of our Pingle Plus group and are challenged in their learning to reach the highest academic standards.  We also have excellent support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their outcomes are good.

We prepare students well for their future life.  We aim to promote a love of learning and encourage students to become lifelong learners.  Our aim is to ensure that students have the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values for life and a strong work ethic.  Students strive for success, following our mantra: Aim high, never give up... you will succeed.

We pay careful attention to students’ health and well-being and want them to become well rounded individuals.  We want all of our students to be safe and happy.  Students have opportunities to get involved in visits and extra-curricular activities.  These are very important for character development and also valuable in terms of giving every single student the chance to shine and be the best that they can be.

Our mission statement is ‘RESPECT l ENGAGE l SUCCEED - a place for everyone’.  We are part of The de Ferrers Trust and our shared values are PRIDE: Partnership, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Excellence.  When you visit the academy, you will see ‘Pingle Pride’ in evidence, in our students who are smartly dressed, co-operative and positively engaged in learning and academy life.  The Trust vision is “To ensure that all the children and young people in our care have the opportunity to fulfil their potential through achieving highly, regardless of their ability or background.”

Our academy is a happy place and serves the community well.  We very much value links with parents, carers and the community; together, we make a difference.

“You and your senior leaders have a relentless and uncompromising focus on the highest
standards, so that every student achieves as well as they can.”   Ofsted

Visitors to the academy are always warmly welcomed.  If you would like to find out more about the academy, please contact Mrs Wagstaff, my PA, email: who will be happy to arrange a visit.  It will be a pleasure to show you round, giving you the opportunity to see the academy on a normal day and to ask any questions you may have.  I look forward to welcoming you.
