We are proud of our caring and inclusive community, where our mission statement:
A place for everyone RESPECT | ENGAGE | SUCCEED is present in all aspects of Academy life.
We are part of The de Ferrers Trust, where Aspire and Achieve are the key principles.
Students join us at 11 years of age from a range of primary schools and the majority remain with us until they have completed their A Levels. We welcome applications from students moving into the area during the course of the academic year. We welcome external applications into the Sixth Form and also offer places to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, if they meet the academic criteria in our entry policy. We have a comprehensive induction programme to enable new starters to settle in quickly.
Last year’s results were the school’s best ever, with all students in Year 13 accessing the university/course of their choice, including two students who are currently studying Chemistry at Oxford University.
We have a strong team of well qualified and committed teachers. We aim to give every student a flying start in English and Mathematics and have intervention programmes for students of all ages who need to accelerate their progress. The percentage of students making 3 or 4 levels of progress in English and Mathematics has risen during the last three years. Students joining us as High Prior Attainers become members of our Pingle Plus group and are challenged in their learning to reach the highest academic standards. We also have excellent support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across the Academy.
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum at KS3 and have a wide range of option choices at GCSE and A Level. Over half of our students in Year 11 gained their English and Mathematics qualifications at Grade C or above in summer 2016 and the majority have joined the Sixth Form. Students are given good careers information, advice and guidance.
You will see from the photo galleries on our website and by reading our newsletters that students have an enormous amount of opportunities to get involved in visits and extra-curricular activities. These are very important for character development and also valuable in terms of giving every single student the chance to shine and be the best that they can be.
You are very welcome see students in lessons on a normal day. Please contact my PA, Mrs Kathryn Wagstaff, who will be happy to arrange a time convenient to you. Pride is an important value across the Trust and you will see Pingle Pride in abundance in our Academy.
Our Academy is a happy place and serves our community well. Come and see for yourself. You will be most welcome. We will be proud to show you our students’ achievements.
